The Abuse of Nature.

Overgrown branches
Grasp at me
Threatening to not let go.
My feet collide with exposed roots
As I find myself called
Further into the wild.
Her song dances through the trees
Echoing through the valley
Sending a chill through my skin
As I find myself falling
Into an old world
We’ve forgotten
But long abused.
From her body, people take
To sustain their materialistic desires
Always taking, never paying
The price greed demands
And with such wealth comes the privilege
Of avoiding such heavy costs
Which are shouldered by those
Who live hand to mouth.
